Social media data is quickly emerging as a rich source of evidence that can be examined for legal purposes.
NSI’s Global’s Digital Forensic Unit can provide Social Media and Cloud Forensic Services to extract and recover data in the event that it has been deleted from an app, mobile phone, tablet, or computer. We can identify, preserve, and analyse data and prepare reports to a legal standard for use in investigations and court proceedings.
NSI Global’s Digital Forensic Unit utilises the same restricted access equipment that is used by intelligence agencies, law enforcement and government bodies. This equipment, in the hands of our specialist forensic analysts, is far more capable in retrieving deleted evidence than common data recovery software.
Our digital forensic analysts will explore, investigate, and piece together data, including deleted data, from numerous social media and cloud storage mediums.

We abide by strict methodology that includes legal notices and a chain of custody. Once we obtain permission to the social media and/or cloud accounts, we extract the data in a forensically sound manner. Our digital forensic analysts then analyse the data and prepare reports on our findings.
For legal matters we liaise with your lawyers and barristers and can stand as expert witnesses in court cases. An expert witness report and affidavit on the evidence is created and cryptographically hashed in order to be allowed where applicable into evidence for use in a court of law.
Where required, we can through additional link analysis, uncover and demonstrate links between previously unconnected people with the person of interest. Events of note are collated and presented in chronological order to clearly highlight links between individuals being investigated.
Please note, we adhere to the Privacy Act, Surveillance Devices Act and relevant statutes in relation to the access of a device and cloud-based data. We will require the permission of the user/owner of the account to be able to access said data.
