A terrorist attack in Balochistan, Pakistan, has killed at least 8 people and wounded a further 56. The attack targeted the Bethel Memorial Methodist Church in Quetta. Pronvincial chief minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that two suicide bombers attempted to storm the church. The security forces on the ground killed on assailant, whilst the other detonated his device.
Mr Bugti said based on the weaponry the militants were in possession of it appeared that they intended to take hostages. The church is reportedly located in a high risk security zone and has been a target in the past. No groups have yet to claim responsibility for the attack, though Tehreek-e-Taliban and its breakaway faction Jamaat-ul-Ahrar are known to target religious minorities in the region.
